Safety and Emergency Overview
This overview applies to all Little Larks events, including workshops, process-art sessions, seasonal events, camps, and private events. Little Larks is committed to keeping every child safe, supported, and well cared for during workshops, sessions, camps, and events. This page gives families a general overview of our safety practices. We are currently confirming our program’s licensing classification with California Community Care Licensing, and this page will be updated as that process is completed.
Supervision
Sessions are led by Griffin, our founder and lead instructor, who provides attentive, age-appropriate supervision throughout drop-off, activities, and pickup. Additional staff may be added for specific programs and will be introduced to families in advance. Staff-to-child ratios are confirmed for each program and shared with families during registration.
Emergency Contacts and Authorized Pickup
During registration, guardians provide emergency contact information and a list of adults authorized to pick up their child. Only authorized adults, verified by name (and ID when needed), may pick up a child from a Little Larks program.
Illness and Health
Children who are feverish, contagious, or otherwise unwell should stay home. Guardians share relevant health information, allergies, and emergency-treatment preferences as part of our required forms, which are provided securely after enrollment.
Incidents and Emergencies
If a child is injured, becomes ill, or an emergency occurs, staff follow our emergency procedures, contact the guardian promptly, and complete an incident report. Guardians are notified of any incident involving their child.
Weather and Facility Safety
Outdoor sessions may be adjusted, moved indoors, or canceled for severe weather or air-quality concerns. Indoor spaces are checked for basic safety before each session.
A Note on Licensing
Whether a specific Little Larks program requires a California child-care license, and which state forms apply, depends on the program’s structure, ages served, schedule, location, and supervision model. We are confirming this classification with California Community Care Licensing before opening enrollment for programs such as our winter camp. This page describes our current practices and will be updated as our licensing status is finalized.
